Downed wires causing delays on Amtrak

(07/16/03) THE BRONX - Downed wires near Westchester Avenue and Edgewater Road in the Bronx have disrupted Amtrak service between Penn Station and New Haven, Providence, Springfield and Boston.

Crews are working to fix the wires in an effort to have service restored by mid-afternoon on Wednesday. Passengers are being directed to take Metro-North trains between Grand Central Terminal and New Haven, Connecticut. Anyone boarding an Amtrak train north of New Haven will have to transfer to Metro-North in order to get to Penn Station.

Amtrak officials are investigating.
