Downed wires disrupt Amtrak service
(07/16/03) THE BRONX - Downed wires near Westchester Avenue and Edgewater Road in the Bronx disrupted Amtrak service for hours Wednesday between Penn Station and New Haven, Providence, Springfield and Boston.
Crews worked since early Wednesday morning to fix the wires in an effort to have service restored. Passengers were forced to take Metro-North trains between Grand Central Terminal and New Haven, Connecticut. Others boarding Amtrak trains north of New Haven had to transfer to Metro-North in order to get to Penn Station.
Amtrak officials are still investigating.
