Celia Cruz laid to rest in Woodlawn

(07/22/03) WOODLAWN - Salsa star Celia Cruz was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx Tuesday. The Latin icon died last week of a brain tumor.

Cruz's body made its final ride in a horse drawn carriage to St. Patrick's Cathedral where her funeral mass was held.

Bronx residents lined the streets outside Woodlawn Cemetery to say goodbye to one of the Latin performers who helped the Bronx become the borough of salsa music.

She now joins the list of famous Latin performers, such as Tito Puente, who chose to make their final resting place the Bronx.
