Changes ahead for Mosholu Golf Course

(07/25/03) NORWOOD - Golfers who like to take to the greens at Mosholu Golf Course in Van Cortlandt Park are in store for some major changes when construction of the new water filtration plant gets underway.

Governor George Pataki (R-NY) approved the water filtration plant plan late Tuesday. Since the plant will be housed underneath the nine hole golf course, officials say some of the existing course will have to be rearranged to accommodate golfers during construction.

Course officials say the 1 and 9 hole will be ripped up and moved to another area that used to be part of the old 18 hole course. The driving range and putting green will also have to be moved to another section of the course.

Officials say the hope is that by moving everything around the course can remain open for business. Construction may start by the fall of 2005 and could last at least six years.
