Man allegedly killed son, fled to Nigeria

(07/26/03) WEST FARMS - Cops believe a father fled to Nigeria after allegedly killing his son in the family's Wyatt Street apartment. Now there is an international manhunt for the alleged killer.

Police said the victim's sister called from Nigeria and said her father confessed to killing his son inside the family's Bronx apartment. She also told cops her father fled to Nigeria.

Bronx cops found 18-year-old Benjamin Elugba on Tuesday morning, face down on his bed and covered by blankets. The medical examiner said the Bronx teen was a victim of a homicide, killed by blunt trauma to his head.

The Bronx teenager was last seen alive last Sunday. Police say his father left for Nigeria one day later on Monday.

The NYPD is working with African authorities to find his dad. Police would not give News 12 the Bronx details about the international manhunt, nor would they reveal the father's name.
