Mayor urges banks to cooperate
(07/28/03) THE BRONX - It's been six months since the NYPD implemented 'Operation Safe Bank,' and on Monday Mayor Bloomberg announced that more cooperation is needed from banks across the city.
The mayor says he is trying to put pressure on banks that have yet to make security changes. Mayor Bloomberg says he does not want certain branches to become known as easy targets because eventually someone will get hurt in a robbery.
So far this year, the Bronx has had more than a dozen robberies with two occurring about a week ago.
