Subway changes in store for the weekend

(08/01/03) THE BRONX - As part of an ongoing MTA project to upgrade and repair the subways, many lines will be shut or rerouted this weekend. The subway construction project will affect commuters across New York City and particularly in the Bronx.

Eighteen of the system's 22 subway lines will be altered for construction. These are some of the major changes affecting Bronx residents:On Saturday, Manhattan-bound Number Four trains will run express from Burnside Avenue to 149th Street from 12 a.m. to 11 p.m.Manhattan-bound Number Six trains will run express from Parkchester to Third Avenue from 12 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Six Train will also run in two sections - Between Pelham Bay Park and 125th street and also between 125th Street and the Brooklyn Bridge.From Sunday through Monday, expect delays on the Number Five train, as there will be no service between Bowling Green and 149th Street.
