Confusion over recycling days in the BX

(08/11/03) WILLIAMSBRIDGE - Confusion over when residents in the Bronx should put out their recycling may be over. The Department of Sanitation has now posted a schedule on its Web site so that residents will know when their pick up day is scheduled.

As of July 28, recycling pick up moved to every other week, which created a problem because residents were putting out garbage not realizing the new schedule. Then the garbage began to smell and attract flies and rats, leaving residents very unhappy.

According to a city sanitation worker, the department did notify residents and building superintendents about the changes.

Alternate week recycling will be in effect until April 2004. Click here to find out when your recyclables are scheduled to be picked up.
