BX stores flooded with shoppers looking for emergeny supplies

Bronx residents flocked to stores to stock up on emergency supplies.

Candles and ice were flying off the shelves at many Bronx stores. The minute businesses were able to open up again, residents bought supplies and tried to replace the food that spoiled in refrigerators overnight.

Residents say they were happy to see stores open. Many say they wanted to stock up on items like flashlights and candles in case the power went out again.

Meanwhile, business owners throughout the borough say the blackout caused them to lose money, especially since a lot of meat and dairy products had to be thrown away.
