Some city learning support centers under fire
Some of the city's learning support centers are under fire from the Public Advocate.
The learning support centers were created by the Department of Education so that parents would have a place to go to have questions answered about their child's education. But, Public Adovate Betsy Gotbaum's office conducted a phone survey of the centers and the results were disappointing.
According to Gotbaum, the survey showed that some learning centers were unable to answer basic questions about the school system. As for the two centers in the Bronx, Gotbaum found that the staff at the one on Zerega Avenue was helpful.
Gotbaum says she plans to visit the other Bronx center soon.
