Woman dies after getting hit by a construction vehicle in the Bronx

An 80-year-old woman died after getting hit by a construction vehicle while crossing Allerton Ave. and White Plains Road. Witnesses say the woman stepped out from behind one of the beams that support the elevated train. The man driving the construction vehicle apparently did not see the woman and hit her.

Police blocked the road for several hours as they questioned the driver. Authorities are treating the incident as an accident. No charges were filed, but police have not closed their investigation.
