Arts and Antique Fall Festival held in Mott Haven to boost business

(09/13/03) MOTT HAVEN - Antique stores in Mott Haven are in danger of closing their doors if more business does not trickle in soon. To generate more sales, Bronx storeowners strutted their stuff outside on Saturday for the Arts and Antique Fall Festival.

There was an enormous selection of antiques, but there were not many buyers. Bronx antique storeowners along Alexander Avenue were clearly disappointed by the low turnout. They are partially blaming the bad weather. Some owners say if business does not pick up soon, they will have no choice but to close down.

Bruckner Boulevard Art and Antique Merchants Association officials and the South Bronx Overall Development Corporation members are working to keep Mott Haven thriving.
