Bronx residents start to prepare for possible strike of Hurricane Isabel

(09/16/03) CITY ISLAND - As Hurricane Isabel moves up the coast, Bronx residents are gearing up and preparing for the worst. For more information on Hurricane Isabel, log on to the News 12 The Bronx Hurricane Isabel Center.

In City Island, owners were hauling boats out of the water to protect them from expected rough seas.

At the Home Depot on Zerega Avenue, flash lights, batteries and pump hoses were flying off the shelves.

Though Isabel is a dangerous, churning storm, it has weakened a bit. In preparation for a major storm in the Bronx, National Hurricane Center officials advise folks to stock up on water and non-perishable food, and to also have a first aid kit handy.
