Elderly Bronx woman dies from West Nile virus

An elderly Bronx woman has died from the West Nile virus. Officials say the 85-year-old woman was the city's first West Nile death in 2003. The woman tested positive for the disease earlier this month.

State health officials say there have been 23 cases of the virus this year in New York, and three people have died. The news of the Bronx woman's death comes as the health department found more West Nile cases within the city. A 35-year-old woman from Queens is the city's tenth and latest case of West Nile virus.
