Parents voice concerns on new parent-based councils
Community school boards in the Bronx have been replaced with parent-based councils. The councils will consist of nine parents selected by the school's PTA, two community members appointed by the borough president, and one student. Bronx parents got their chance to air concerns about the new parent-based councils to the state Department of Education at Lehman High School Tuesday night. Many parents are concerned too much is happening too quickly. The Department of Education agreed with parents' concerns but said they were operating under the confines of the law.Elections will be held in October.
