Change made at intersection deemed dangerous by P.S. 85 parents

The Department of Transportation has increased the amount of time pedestrians have to cross at Fordham Road. and E. 187 Street.

Parents throughout the Bronx have been concerned for the safety of their children especially since school is in session. Parents say they are worried because of the lack of crossing guards and the number of dangerous intersections.

At P.S. 85, parents complained that there as not enough time for their kids to cross at the intersection of Fordham Road and E. 187 Street. They claimed the signal only gave them 10 seconds to cross. After News 12 The Bronx contacted the Department of Transportation, the time allotted to cross the street was increased, but parents say it is not enough.

Parents say they will now focus their efforts at trying to get a crossing guard at the intersection.
