Parents claim the safety of kids at P.S. 76 is being ignored

Parents say their kids have to cross two busy intersections to get to school.

Students at P.S. 76 must cross Bronxwood and Adee Avenues each day without a crossing guard. Since not all parents can walk their kids to school, they want crossing guards placed at each intersection before something bad happens.

The problem is that the NYPD says there is no money available to hire additional crossing guards.

Parents have offered to take turns helping kids cross the busy intersections, but school officials have said no because of liability.

Community Board 11 is working with parents to try and get funding to provide crossing guards for the kids.
