Early Sunday morning violence leaves two men dead, two other men wounded

(10/19/03) THE BRONX - Violence in three separate Bronx neighborhoods early Sunday morning leaves two men dead. Two other men were taken to Lincoln Hospital after being shot.

Police say a 45-year-old Bronx man was stabbed numerous times at 2:45 a.m. at 720 Westchester Avenue in the Melrose Section of the Bronx after getting into an argument with two people. He later died at a local hospital. Fifty minutes later in the Hub, a man was shot in the right arm and buttocks. Also, a 40-year-old man was shot in both legs at East 149th Street and Southern Boulevard. Both shooting victims are listed in stable condition. Then, in Norwood at around 4:00 in the morning, a man in his 20s was shot in the chest at east 204th Street and Bainbridge Avenue. He later died.

Cops arrested Gloria and Norberto de Leon in connection with the stabbing in the Melrose Section. They are charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The gunmen who shot Bronx men in the Hub and in Norwood are still at large.
