P.S. 127 teen still afraid to go school after allegedly being attacked by classmate

An alleged attack by a classmate has left one Bronx girl too afraid to go to school.

It's been almost two weeks since a fellow P.S. 127 student allegedly cut Mirna Barrera, 14, across her nose with a knife. The teen is still home because she is too scared to go back to class, so now her mom is looking to get her transferred to another school. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.

So far the Department of Education has offered to send Mirna to M.S. 135, but that would require her to take two buses to get to school. Mirna's mom is trying to get her into I.S. 194, but Department of Education officials have said the school is too crowded. The Department of Education is working to find a solution to Mirna's situation.
