Eleven organizations receive funding to continue revitalization efforts in the Bronx

Eleven non-profit organizations received thousands of dollars in grant money Tuesday.

The Point and 10 other non-profit groups were given grant money to help continue their work serving communities in the Bronx. The Point's director says the money given to his organization will be used to restore the image of Hunts Point.

Also in Hunts Point, money went to the Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation to help fund a new mall and beautify storefronts. And residents in Hunts Point finally have their own post office thanks to the grant.

The largest grant was awarded to the South Bronx Economic Development Corporation. With the money, the organization plans to try and draw shoppers to the area's antique district.

Small Business Services provided the grants to the organizations. The grants are offered each year to non-profit groups in the Bronx.
