City teachers rally against reorganized school system at City Hall
(10/21/03) CITY HALL - Bronx parents are not the only ones with complaints about the reorganized school system. Now, Bronx teachers are also speaking out, saying they have had enough.
Hundreds of city teachers rallied at City Hall on Tuesday. They say they have not been given enough time or enough training to learn the new curriculum. They also claim overcrowding in classrooms makes it difficult to do their jobs. The rallying teachers believe overcrowding increases the number of violent incidents in schools. They say that overall, all of the new rules are hurting their ability to teach.
Department of Education officials called the rally a P.R. stunt. They say it is time to stop playing what they call "the blame game."
