Sacred Heart students collect much needed items for U.S. troops overseas
Students at Sacred Heart are doing their part to help those fighting in Iraq.
Sacred Heart's Operation S.H.A.R.E. came about after a seventh-grade teacher, who is part of the U.S. Army Reserve, gathered a list of items that are needed by troops overseas. For the past month, students at the school have been holding drives to collect products such as non-perishable foods to send to the soldiers.
On Friday, a group of troops visited the school to pick up the items so they can be delivered overseas.
Teachers at the school say Operation S.H.A.R.E. is important for students because it helps them understand that the world is a lot bigger than what they see. The school's principal says it is also important because it helps them cope with the concept of war.
