Series of public hearings scheduled to discuss BX and city education contracts

Chair of the City Council's Education Committee is leading a series of public hearings.

The hearings will focus on teacher, principal and custodial contracts since they more or less dictate how Bronx and city schools are run. Councilwoman Eva Moskowitz (D-Manhattan), chair of the City Council's Education Committee, says the complexity of the contracts leads to confusion in the school system.

Moskowitz says she has been having trouble getting people to come forward and testify. So far, the Schools Chancellor and president of the teachers' union are expected to testify. The hearings will be held from Wednesday, November 12 to Monday, November 17.
