Teachers learn how to get Bronx kids more interested in science

Region 2 teachers spent Wednesday brushing up on how they teach science at a seminar at Bronx Community College.

Working in small and large groups, the teachers learned how to teach science as a way of thinking as opposed to teaching individual facts that students have to string together.

One of the goals of the training is to improve students' test scores and to show kids how to interact with the world around them.

The Region 2 superintendent says there are many myths and misconceptions about science that both teachers and students have. Through the training, the hope is to erase those myths and have educators teach science to students in a way that makes them eager to learn.
