BX church known for giving back to community celebrates 90th anniversary

In its 90 years of existence, St. Luke's Episcopal Church has created a legacy of giving back to the community.

St. Luke's was started almost a century ago by a group of Bronx residents. From its humble beginnings in a storefront to the two buildings it occupies now, the church has grown and now has more than 1,000 members.

The church is known as a place where Williamsbridge residents in need can get a hot meal. Volunteers say over the past year, the amount of those coming to the soup kitchen has dramatically increased

St. Luke's also conducts fundraisers and clothing drives, and helps seniors and youth in the community. Members of the church say they are proud of St. Luke's legacy and hope in the next 90 years they can do even more.
