High winds rip through the Bronx causing scattered power outages

Strong winds whipped through the BX Thursday knocking down trees and causing power outages.

Forecasters say the winds will persist throughout the night into Friday as a cold front moves across the northeast into New England. Con Edison says about 200 customers lost power in the Bronx due to the high winds.

Residents who headed out on the road were urged to use caution especially driving over bridges. There were also reports of bricks falling from buildings and trees toppling over.
