Bronx travelers urged to use caution during the big holiday getaway
With about 36 million travelers hitting the roads this holiday transportation officials say use caution.
Traffic is expected to get heavy from the time of the evening rush to early Thanksgiving morning. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging travelers to take their time and make sure to leave at least one to two hours extra time for travel. Also, pay attention to the speed limit and be sure to wear your seat belt. The NHTSA says police will be aggressively enforcing seat belt laws this holiday. And be sure to designate a driver if you plan on drinking this Thanksgiving.
Holiday drivers are also reminded that turkey can make you drowsy so be sure not to get behind the wheel if you feel tired.
