Department of Health gives cold weather safety tips

The Department of Health has given some cold weather tips to Bronx residents as the borough continues to deal with the snow.

As the temperatures continue to drop, precautions should be taken when spending time outdoors. The Department of Health says wear a hat, hood or scarf because most heat is lost through the head. Remember to wear layers of clothing, and keep your clothing dry. If they become wet, change as soon as possible.

The Department of Health also says precautions should be taken when staying indoors. Don't use gas ovens or burners to heat your home and electric heaters should be used with extreme care.
