Clean streets return to the Bronx after major winter storm

After two days of winter weather, residents across the Bronx are spending Sunday cleaning up from the season's first snowstorm. The winter weather event dumped about a foot of snow on the borough and disrupted life for tens of thousands.

Mayor Bloomberg praised city workers for constantly staying ahead of the storm. According to the mayor, 1,924 pieces of snow-removal equipment were salting and plowing city streets in an effort to keep them passable. The mayor encouraged residents to enjoy the snow covered city, but to stay cautious. Bloomberg also urged people to clear the sidewalks in front of their apartments or stores and to check on the elderly.
