Fire truck responding to water main break in Longwood gets trapped in a hole
A 70,000 pound NYC fire truck was stuck in a 12-foot deep hole caused by a water main break.
The water main break occurred on Tiffany Avenue between 167th and 168th Street in Longwood. Firefighters were en route to help out but when they arrived on the scene the roadway gave way. The truck became lodged in the hole, forcing officials to turn off water in the area and close down the Tiffany Avenue.
The truck remained trapped for more than a dozen hours before a Con Edison crane lifted the truck out of the hole. No one was injured.
Water service is expected to be restored sometime on Monday.
