Hunts Point to soon be the new home of the BX Charter School for the Arts

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the new site of the Bronx Charter School for the Arts Monday.

Parents, school officials and students gathered for the ceremony to get a glimpse of the school's future home. What once was an old meat market in Hunts Point will now become the Bronx Charter School for the Arts.

The school, which is one of the only schools in the Bronx that is geared towards the arts, takes in grades K-3. It is currently housed in I.S. 216 in Longwood. But since the school plans to expand to become a K-6 school it needed a new location.

The charter school's doors will open in Hunts Point next September.
