City Meals on Wheels rolls into the Bronx to help spread Christmas cheer
-Like Santa's elves, volunteers with the city Meals on Wheels program packed up 15,000 meals to be distributed throughout the city, and in the Bronx.
With a growing senior population, more people in the Bronx rely on the free meal and the company they get from the volunteer who brings it.
Meals on Wheels kicked off its 23rd year of delivering hot meals to the elderly and shut-ins on Christmas Day, but for the dedicated volunteers, its just another day.
Even as budgets shrink, there is good news for the people who rely on Meals on Wheels year round. There will be changes, like the introduction of frozen food. But Meals on Wheels guarantees no one who needs a meal will be left out.
