Bronx security guard shot after arguing with a customer

A Dr. Jay's security guard might be paralyzed after a customer shot him Saturday following an argument.Police say it all started when a man entered the store on the corners of Westchester and Third Avenues to return a pair of shoes. The security guard then asked the man to see a receipt. Police say the two began arguing when the customer walked past the guard. The security guard eventually escorted the man out of the store, but the man pulled out a gun and shot the guard twice in the back. The gunman vanished as the guard fell down in the walkway.Police locked down the store for hours as they questioned store customers and employees. Customers said they were surprised to hear that a shooting could take place at the store. Employees said all they want is justice for their fellow employee.Sources told News 12 The Bronx that police seized surveillance tapes from the store. Police hope the tapes could reveal more information about why the argument started or reveal the gunman.The security guard was taken to Lincoln Hospital. His condition has not been disclosed yet.The store re-opened later in the day.
