Car crashes into a Bronx pizzeria

A car jumped the curb on West Fordham Road crashing into a Bronx pizzeria Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses say a man drove through the crosswalk and up the sidewalk, and swerved to avoid hitting a woman but ended up crashing into the pizzeria. The driver says the accident happened because his brakes failed. He was unharmed, but the woman he was trying to avoid was clipped. Police say she was taken to the hospital with a minor injury.

The front of the pizzeria was damaged but none of the customers inside were hurt. The pizzeria's manager says the store may lose several days worth of business while repairs are made.
