Family suffers minor injuries after car crashes into their Kingsbridge apartment

Residents in Kingsbridge got quite a scare when a car crashed into their apartment building Monday.

Fire officials say a woman, who was with her 8-year-old son, was trying to back out of a parking spot behind 2770 Kingsbridge Terrace and ended up crashing through an apartment. Police say a mother and her two children were in the apartment at the time but only suffered minor cuts and bruises. The driver and her son also sustained minor injuries.

Residents say they heard a big boom and thought there was an explosion until they saw the car in the apartment window.

The building was evacuated as a precaution and once it was inspected residents were allowed back in. The family whose apartment was damaged in the crash will have to stay in temporary housing for now.
