Officials investigating fire at Bronx River Houses

Firefighters say a Christmas tree was thrown down a trash chute and it caught fire.

The fire at the Bronx River Houses began on the 10th floor shortly after 12:30 Friday. Firefighters are still trying to determine exactly how the tree caught fire. So far it appears that an old incinerator shaft made for a dangerous situation.

No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters say Christmas tree fires are common.
