Bronx school security lines minimal despite new safety measures

On the same day new safety measures went into effect, security lines at several schools in the Bronx were moving along fine.

Evander Childs High School, Lehman High School and the Richard R. Green Middle School are known for having long security lines, but on Monday that was not the case.

As part of Mayor Bloomberg's new school safety plan, which went into effect Monday, some schools including Evander Childs now have more police officers and security agents.

Some students say more security compromises their education. They say they miss classes trying to get through security. But parents say it's the kids who create the problems outside the schools because they don't cooperate with the security agents.

Parents say long lines are just another sign of a school system that's overcrowded.
