How Bronx residents can make sure their boilers won't break down

With the cold weather residents have been experiencing lately, broken boilers are the last thing anyone may want to with. Experts say proper maintenance of your boiler can save you the headache many Bronx residents say they're facing.

Anthony Ragno's family has been in the boiler maintenance business for more than 70 years in The Bronx. He says it's no coincidence the cold weather keeps his business busy every winter.

Ragno says there are four easy steps that can help Bronx residents make sure their home is always warm:

1- Clean gas boilers two times a year and oil boilers three times a year.2- Observe for smoke and water3- Locate a service company that can change filters, change water and check its level.4- Do not wait until you tank is empty to get your oil delivered.

Ragno says a new boiler can cost you anywhere from $5,000 and up. He says maintenance of your current boiler is the way to go.
