Bronx River House residents fed up with icy mess outside their building
Residents of the Bronx River Houses say it's an icy mess outside their building.
The residents say getting around since the latest round of rain, sleet and snow has been difficult. They claim the city's housing department has been slow to clear away the slushy, icy mess that's still around.
Randolph Dawson, who lives in the building, says no salt or sand has been put down, and there has been no plowing. He says it's very hard to get to your car.
On Tuesday, crews were at the building chipping away at the ice but residents say it's not enough.
And at the Bronxdale Houses, residents who are mainly elderly and disabled, say they too are having trouble getting around because of the ice.
A housing authority spokesperson said the department has as many crews out as possible clearing walkways. Anyone who has a complaint about icy conditions outside a city-owned building can call 311.
