Bronx students not required to retake Regents exams missed due to snowstorm

Students who missed last week's Regents exams due to the weather do not have to retake them. City schools as well as Long Island and some upstate schools were forced to close after a snowstorm Wednesday, which was the day the tests were scheduled.

State Education Commissioner Richard Mills announced that students would be able to used course grades of 65 or better for local diplomas. However, course grades cannot be substituted for the English Regents exam. If students want to earn a Regents diploma, they can take the miss tests in June. The same policy also applies to the Regents competency tests in reading and writing.

The NYS Education Department says students who retake the Regents tests in June but don't pass can take them again in August.
