Education officials to unveil a plan to ease overcrowding in BX and city schools

The Department of Education is set to unveil a plan to ease overcrowding.

A spokesman for the Department of Education says a proposal to build new schools in the Bronx and city to help the overcrowding problem will be released Monday. The spokesman says information about how many schools will be built and how the project will be funded will also be unveiled.

School officials say the plan was created after discussions with community leaders, teachers and city politicians. Some have blamed the violence in schools on overcrowding.
