Competing in the nationals a dream come true for a group of BX cheerleaders
Although they didn't make it to the finals, the cheerleaders from St. Catharine's lived out a dream.
The cheerleading team from St. Catharine's Academy, spent this week in Florida at Walt Disney competing against 350 of the best cheerleading teams from around the country. Hours of practice, weeks of learning routines and months of competing helped the girls make it to the nationals.
Once it was their turn to perform, the girls went onto the mat and strutted their stuff. But when it came time to hear who would advance, their names were not called. Despite the disappointing news, the girls say getting as far as they did is a dream come true. They say being at the competition was such a great experience.
The squad from St. Catharine's was the first cheerleading team from the Bronx to ever make it to the nationals - a feat they are very proud of.
