Bronx man arrested in shooting death once thought accidental

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in a deadly Bronx shooting that was previously considered accidental.

Police arrested Mark Carrero Sunday, a day after he allegedly fired at 17-year-old Nathaniel Vallejo at an apartment on Bouck Avenue in the Baychester section of the Bronx. Police said the two were known to each other and had been involved in an ongoing dispute.

Vallejo was found shot once in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday. His death was initially investigated as an accident.

Carrero, of 1216 Burke Ave. in the Bronx, is being charged with second-degree murder, according to authorities.
