In Depth: A look at nutrition

Reports show that many Bronx residents are not getting proper nutrition.

With many parents on the go and so many fast food choices in the Bronx, it's not always easy to find something healthy to eat. Luz Carty is a working mom who doesn't have time to cook. The usual alternative for her is take out or fast food because it's inexpensive and easy. She says eating healthy at fast food restaurants is usually more expensive.

Researchers say children are eating more fast food on a regular basis. Dr. Jose Rodriguez says parents need to be healthy role models, and adds that even small changes can pay off. Dr. Rodriguez says exercise is also important.

Trying to eat right and stay healthy can be a challenge, but Bronx nutritionists say cooking large healthy meals that can be used for a couple of days may be the best plan.
