Bronx father killed in construction site accident on Jackson Avenue

A construction accident kills a Bronx father of six and injures another worker Tuesday.

City officials say 46-year-old Wayne Brown was walking down a ladder at a construction site on Jackson Avenue when the ladder gave way and the scaffold collapsed on top of him. A Department of Buildings official says the man's weight combined with the angle of the ladder and poor construction of the scaffold led to his death. Another worker was also injured in the accident.

Brown's family says he worked as a mason for Tahoe Contracting for about three years. The Department of Buildings issued Tahoe Contracting four violations as a result of the accident.

A work stoppage was also issued until the company safeguards the area.
