Advocates still fighting to keep water filtration plant out of Van Cortlandt Park

The battle to keep a water filtration plant out of Van Cortlandt Park continues.

Advocates fighting to preserve the feel of Van Cortlandt Park maintain that a water filtration plant would destroy the community. The battle of where to put the water filtration plant has been going on for years, but came to an end when the governor decided the plant would be built under the Mosholu Golf Course in Van Cortlandt Park.

But advocates say the project is still not a done deal. In a study released by the Department of Environmental Protection, officials revealed that a site in Westchester would be a more cost effective location for the plant to be built.

A public hearing on matter will be held on March 3 at Clinton Dewitt High School at 7 p.m.
