Bronx residents trying to pay parking tickets end up parked in line instead

A computer problem left many Bronx residents trying to pay parking tickets parked in line for hours.

A line of people waiting to pay parking tickets wrapped around the city's finance office on Williamsbridge Road. Officials say the problem started when the office's computer system slowed to a crawl Thursday and remained that way through Friday.

While technicians worked to fix the kinks, finance workers tried to ease the frustration of those standing on line. Flyers were handed out telling people other locations they could go to pay their tickets. But many waited it out because they had no choice.

Department of Finance officials say no one waiting will be penalized for paying late. They say people will be given an extension. The computer problem is expected to be fixed Monday.
