Two fire trucks responding to blaze in Mott Haven get into separate crashes

(02/21/04) MOTT HAVEN - Drivers of two fire trucks collided on the way to a fire in the Mott Haven Section of the Bronx.

One truck smashed into several parked cars in its path. That incident happened at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and St. Mary's Street. Fire officials say 11 firefighters were injured. Two pedestrians getting into one of the parked cars were also hurt. All victims were all taken to Bronx hospitals for minor injuries.

One block away from that crash, a fire chief on his way to investigate that accident was in one of his own with a town car. Witnesses say a woman in the car was taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment.

Fire officials say the fire to which those firefighters were responding was put out quickly, and there were no injuries at that scene.
