Fordham football coach resigns to take another coaching job

After guiding the Fordham Rams back to national prominence, coach Dave Clawson is leaving. Clawson was introduced as the new head coach at the University of Richmond Monday.

Clawson spent five years at Fordham going 29-29. He built a national powerhouse team in his last three years with the Rams going 26-10. Under Clawson, the Rams won the Patriot League title and made it to the elite 8 in the 1-Double A Playoffs.

After learning about Clawson's decision to leave, the team immediately backed Offensive Coordinator Ed Foley for the job. The school's athletic director said Foley will be included on the short list of candidates.
