Dozens of Bronx elementary schools named most improved by the state
More than a dozen Bronx elementary schools have been named most improved by the New York State Department of Education. The schools that made the list were once on the state's list of low-performing schools.
The list is based on the progress elementary and middle schools throughout the state have made over the past five years on the annual standardized math and English tests. The tests are given in fourth and eighth grade.
Although elementary schools in the Bronx showed improvement, not one middle school in the borough made the list.
